Microsoft to Acquire Mobile SaaS Company, Danger

Fresh from a buyout rejection bid from Yahoo, Microsoft enters into another buyout agreement. This time around, Microsoft wants to beef up its mobile services by entering into an agreement to acquire mobile software-as-a-service company, Danger, Inc.

Danger is a SaaS software that provides mobile operators with an integrated end-to-end solution to  deliver mobile data and Internet services. By combining Danger’s mobile services with its own connected entertainment and experiences technologies that includes MSN, Xbox, Zune, Windows Live and Windows Mobile, Microsoft hopes to accelerate its work in creating industry-leading entertainment and communication experiences to its customers.Microsoft president for Entertainement and Devices Division Robbie Bach said that the addition of Danger into Microsoft’s mobile services will serve as a perfect complement to the existing Microsoft software and services.

Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft said:

“The addition of Danger serves as a perfect complement to our existing software and services, and also strengthens our dedication to improving mobile experiences centered on individuals and what they like.”

While Danger chairman and CEO, Henry R. Nothhaft has this to say about the deal:

“Now by combining our uncompromised application software and powerful back-end service with Microsoft, we can expand our innovative service offerings even further and take mobility to a new level.”
