Google to Track Search Trends and Fundraising Data for Presidential Candidates

After the successful launch of new search featured dedicated to candidates this election season, Google has introduced two new ways to keep track of the presidential hopefuls: how they’re funded, and how they’re trending in search compared to one another.

Trending Candidates
Google is going to make candidate search trends more readily available in search results. When searching for a candidate, you will now see a line graph revealing how the candidate you searched for is trending in search versus their opponents. The graph will track both recent and historical data.

Fundraising Information
Google is teaming up with the Center for Responsive Politics to make campaign funding information easier to access. Searching for “candidate name” + “campaign finance” will bring up fundraising information, broken down by donor groups. Fundraising information will also appear in candidates’ Knowledge Graph cards when their name is searched.

Here is a comparison of Hilary Clinton and Bernie Sanders’ fundraising efforts:

This continues Google’s effort to provide accurate, unbiased information about candidates to help voters make more informed decisions.
