It’s that time of the year again folks, with the 82nd Academy Awards happens tonight in LA. According to reports, this year’s Oscar academy awards will be much more exciting than last year, with a record 10 nominations for Best Picture and a hosting lineup of Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.
But if you live in New York, you may be missing this year’s Academy Awards (more info below)!
Will Avatar, a movie that was named after something almost everyone in social media and search has on their Twitter profile, forum page or blog, take the big Oscar prize for Best Picture? Or will Hurt Locker run away with the Oscar? And what about Precious? Isn’t about time the cast & crew from Precious win something besides Monique’?
ABC will be airing the ceremonies on TV starting 8 p.m. EST (5 pm for the Left Coast), and E! Online will be doing their Live from the Red Carpet (something the wife will make me switch over to around 5pm to catch Jay Emanuel). But if you live in NEW YORK where ABC may not be available on Cablevision, you are outside of the US and can’t catch it on TV OR prefer to watch the Academy Awards on your laptop, we’ve got several good places for you to watch it online.
With 3.1 Million New Yorkers perhaps shut out of the Oscars on ABC, here are the top places to catch the Academy Awards 2010 Online :
Oscar.com – ABC got the event covered with its official live streaming of the Academy Awards Online 2010.
Right TV – This site has a dedicatd page that will let you watch the Oscars.
Watch Oscars 2010 Online – Another unofficial site but will stream the Academy Awards Online 2010 and will let you watch the gig for free.
Hulu.com – You will definitely find some updated clips of the Oscars ceremonies from Hulu.
TVGuide – Of course, TV Guide will also be webcasting the event, including their Red Carpet Fashion camera. They also have a YouTube Channel dedicated to the Oscars.
AP Live Stream – AP is offering live streaming of the Academy Awards Online 2010 via Livestream.
UStream – Definitely has a great collection of livestreaming sites featuring the Oscars.
Thanks for that information. I live in New York and have Cablevision. My only problem is to pry my father off the computer so I won’t miss out of the Oscars.
While Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will make great hosts, no doubt – they’d be the only reason I’d watch the Oscars – a bunch of rich actors who pander to the likes of Hugo Chavez (yes, you, Sean Penn) and constantly give themselves public pats on the back. In this age of tough economic situations, I hope they have the good sense to keep the huge diamond necklaces at home.
ABC is pulling a scam on all of us. If you are not a Cablevision customer they put their signal out over the air for free. But if you are a Cablevision customer they want $240MM in return for letting us watch their shows over the cable system that we have chosen. This is bull! If ANYBODY is greedy it is ABC, holding us – the viewers – and Cablevision hostage. I am boycotting ABC – ALL of the ABC television and radio outlets/channels. I bet THIS comment does not see the light of day!
I rarely watch ABC or any sister stations as it is, now I’ll make a deliberate point of boycotting them. I worked with The Rat company and can’t express how delighted I was to get as far away from them as possible! ABC/Disney stop attempting to extort monies to make up for your failures. Theme parks, features, television, consumer products ALL suffering – get a clue, you’ve got to give to receive. GREED is sinking you and no one is happier to watch it unfold than I!
