I’ve been reviewing numerous SEO tools and FireFox extensions. One of our valued readers, Stephanie Trahd, asked to share my methods to organize all those tools to know where to look when you need anything.

Really, with multiple SEO tasks we need to tackle daily and all those numerous SEO tools (that might help) you need to know how to effectively organize them. The worst part is that there tools you need almost daily; other tools, instead, come in handy only once in a while, so it is easy to forget about them.

You can organize your tools in the following ways:

Organize Tools with FireFox:

FireFox bookmarks (that can be synchronized among several computers with Xmarks) can store your tools categorized by the task you use them for.

I usually create several folders to sort the tools by the SEO task and the frequency I use them (the less often I need the tool, the deeper folder-level I use to store it).

The bookmarks are searchable by title from "Bookmarks" -> "Organize bookmarks". The search can be limited to any folder, so you can search your stored SEO tools by any keyword.

Organize Tools with Wikipad:

Wikipad is an awesome desktop application that allow to create well-organized, inter-linked documents. I have already mentioned the tool describing how to use Wikipad for keyword research.

Wikipad is one of the greatest free tools to organize anything. I for one use it to organize links I come across and plan to refer to in the future.

To create subpages there, simply use [] brackets which will be converted into the clickable link. Wikipad can also be searched and its search feature is really powerful:

And how do you organize SEO tools to quickly remember and find the one you need?
