Sometimes, you are just stuck. You seem to have done everything you could. That’s when I find inspiration using various SEO tools.
In this case I usually get back to the competitive research - as that’s where you have no limits for creativity. You can use various backlink checkers to find who promotes your competitors. Or you can use Yahoo advanced operators and get creative there.
When you are already tired of investigating your competitors’ link building tactics and sources, you can change other methods for a change. Here is a few link building tools that will help you find additional ideas for backlink opportunities.
Tools to help you with link building search queries:
- SEOBook Link Suggest tool gives you plenty of tips on possible link building search queries. It would be much better if it could generate a huge list for all queries though instead of making me choose one in the drop-down.
- Webconfs Link Builder offers a smaller collection of queries but it generates the list on one page and is rather easy to use;
- SOLO SEO tool (based on SEOmoz post) should be a bit updates (some of the queries do not work any more) but it is still great for Google search.

Tools to help you find who the site links out to:
- MSN / Live [linkfromdomain:] advanced operator, as the name suggests, shows you who the specified domain links out to (and thus giving you an idea if it is likely to link to you).
- Hub Finder finds hubs of sites that link to a prticular URL - if that’s a tightly relevant resource, they are most likely to link to you too.

You really want to look at marketsamurai.com
It’s an AIR app and it does, well, everything.
I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but I don’t mean it to be.
Keyword suggestion is at the heart of what it does, anyway.
I recommend a look and I’m sure your readers would be delighted to know about it.
It is presently being used by all of Ed Dale’s 30 Day Challenge people, in case you’re wondering :)
Cheers,
