Google Rolls Out Mobile Image Ads

April 23rd, 2008 by Arnold Zafra | 1 Comment

Google just launched mobile image ads which works like your typical Google image ads but small enough to fit on a mobile phone’s screen.

The Google mobile ads team says that this new ads could very well serve as a branding tool for advertisers and are said to have good CTRs. Likewise, advertisers could also benefit from these images since image ads are displayed one unit per one mobile page.

For Adsense publishers who are already into mobile advertising, these mobile image ads would give them another option on the type of ads they would want to display on their mobile website.

As for mobile web browsers, Google says these image ads would give out relevant ads and would not obstruct their mobile web browsing experience since they can opt no to click those ads and click only those which they deemed useful for their purposes. But what Google failed to mention is that these ads would take up some valuable loading time, especially if you are browsing using your mobile phone’s airtime credits. And besides, are users really clicking on those ads to get the information they want from the mobile web?
