Google Has Disabled My GMail Account

Google GMail outages were reported last week, with a massive outage on Thursday which took Google 24 hours to recover.

Today I am trying to log into my GMail account, which I use for about everything apps, docs, and GMail related, and am receiving this message :

Sorry, your account has been disabled.

GMail Disabled

Google will not let me recover my GMail account. They are not letting me go through a series of captchas like their Google Accounts Help page says they will.

Instead, Google has blocked or disabled my account, for no reason I can find, and will not let me log in.

Google, please inform me of why my account has been blocked and why I no longer have access to my Google Docs, GMail and files saved on the Google Network.

    Hi All,

I faced the same problem as u all did. But got my account activated. I filled a form in ‘cant access account’ link Initally i provided only a few information. But you need to provide all the information like 5 email ids regularly accessed. 4 Subjects on received mails, secondary mail address which u access frequently. Then u receive a link for reset your password but before u go for the reset password page you need to confirm it by clicking another link provided in the secondary address. I am sure your problems will be solved..

    • penny says:

Hi, thank you. I had filled the form today, when my account will be recoverd, after one day? my account is very important for me, there are lots of important information in my account, and the 4 subjects is the name of the regularly contact people?

      thank you.

I am a Chinese, sorry for my english.

  4. Ruth Woytsek says:

Yeah, this shit just happened to me after 7 years as a user. My username and password are SAVED, so it shouldn’t have given me any “incorrect username/password” bullshit. I tried resetting my password only to find out that the old email account I used is no longer in existence, and I can’t fill out that stupid form because I can’t remember five email addresses or subject lines because I expect freaking Gmail to remember that for me. Their damn security question crap is not popping up. I don’t know what the hell to do, and since there is no real customer service, I guess I’m screwed.

  5. Robert Welch says:

Same here. I know my username and password, so it shouldn’t have given me any “incorrect username/password” bullshit. I tried resetting my password only to find out that will not work either. I filled out that stupid form and used my Verification code! – this will not work: said, I need more information – That’s a load of crap. Who else would have the damn code? I guess I’m screwed.

  16. smilinjack says:

Well, I only had the gmail account 4 days and only used it to list stuff on craigslist. What I do not understand is the total lack of information they provide when they disable your account. I guess they really believe I am an interuption to their business not a customer.

    • himuraken says:

You might be on to something here. My accounts (2) that were disabled were both less than a month old and they had only been referenced on Craigslist.

Today suddenly google disabled my account. Just 5 minutes before I am able to get in and respond to mails. They asked my to verify the country and phone and I didn’t received sms with verfication code.

today gmail account disabled for terms of service violations–
in reality not the slightest hint of any service violation
    whatsoever

  24. Mary Ballerin says:

I signed up for Wave and now I cannot access my gmail, it isn’t even listed under My google products but when I try to register with the address, milogram @ gmail it says the name is taken. I need to access my emails and their help page is of no help to me. This is a real mess!

  25. Rita says:

My account was also disabled without any notice or WHY! AND they don’t respond….I have a few gmail accounts, so what I did was open a yahoo account and moved my data base from the other gmail accounts into my yahoo account in case they close down the other accounts without notice.

Amazing the lack of cooperation from Google as to WHY they do this? Google leave a bad taste in your mouth and as I read from what happens to others, it is fustrating when you have pertinent information saved.

Does anyone have anything that we can do together to get google to cooperate and let people know why they disable accounts and to enable them again?

  26. Andrew says:

My gmail account has also gone off today, i have so many blogs there, i do not know what to do

  27. Daniel says:

My gmail account has been disabled for no reason, honestly I don’t have the slightest idea on what basis has Google perpetrated this awful violation against my privacy.

On Google’s privacy statement (http://www.google.com/privacy.html) they clearly manifest that one of their five privacy principles is the following: “Be a responsible steward of the information we hold”.

    Interesting…

How exactly does Google plan to become a responsible steward of MY private information, which I trusted upon them to store through years of use?

What exactly is going to happen to all my valuable information, to which I no longer have any access?

Am I allowed, at least, to erase it?

How many copies are there of my Inbox, and while I don’t have access to any, who else does?

In another page (http://www.google.com/privacypolicy.html) Google states the following: “Google only shares personal information with other companies or individuals outside of Google in the following limited circumstances: (…) We have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (b) enforce applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or (d) protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Google, its users or the public as required or permitted by law.”

    Interesting…
The sole unique requirement to violate my privacy is that Google has a good faith believe that they should…

I wonder if this is legal… maybe Google deserves a reaction from the people, something like a good class suit that will cost them enough money to start caring about disrespecting us!

Last question… what happens to all the new email that might continue to be received in my Inbox… will Google reject it? or else will they “keep” it on my behalf?

And a final question to you, the reader:
From 1 to 10, how much do you believe that Google actually a good steward of OUR information THEY hold?

My account was temporarily disabled for no apparent reason last week. Would really like to know how to recover the info. Any suggestions?

    • Emily says:

One reason is that when you sign in to Gmail you only need to type in the first part NOT the @gmail.com part. Also, your account might have been hacked. That it all I have to say for that matter.

  35. Simon Thomas says:

I'm in the same boat, my Gmail account has been disabled for some unknown reason. I've held it for over 4 years and got through so many cell phones in that time (and countries) that I have no idea what number they are requesting for verification. It wouldn't help anyway since I no longer have the number as I'm no longer in the country where I first registered the account.

I've tried the alternative option and emailed customer services and nearly 2 weeks later still no response. In addition, my blog which is a valuable travel diary of sorts, is also now disabled and can not be accessed (even old posts). Presumably this is because it is linked to the Google email address.

Very frustrating. Perhaps the answer is to cut my losses and invest in a domain name and hosting site that won't do this without explanation seemingly at a whim and I guess associated with technical problems on their part (since I've done nothing which breaches their long list of no-no's!!).

Fortunately, I have more than one account with them. However, it definitely makes you think again about relying on the storage of any valuable information that you might require in the future.
