MySpace is Yahoo Serious About Email and Instant Messaging
MySpace may be getting an upgrade in Instant Messaging and email as rumors are spreading that MySpace is trying to entice Yahoo employees to defect. The buzz started when Valleywag reported a rumor that MySpace is trying to grab up Yahoo’s Manager of email and IM, Brad Garlinghouse.
Instant Messaging and email = customer retention and Yahoo has mastered the art of keeping their registered users happy, active, and Yahoo loyal; which is something MySpace will need if their field of competition opens even more. Valleywag’s MySpace leakage mole says that MySpace is serious about getting into email and instant messaging and Brad has already visited the offices of MySpace.
Brad was here in our offices, meeting with our founders Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson.
Brad runs Yahoo’s email and instant messenger, along with a couple of other things and I hear he’s our top pick to do the same for MySpace. I also hear he’s supposed to be back in a couple weeks and that we’re trying to get him to meet with the big guns in New York.
