I’m Back… Let’s Make SEJ a Better Place

I am back temporarily. I will be helping out at SEJ until a new editor can be found and the SEJ Advisory Board is set up and running.

Search Engine Journal is going to be doing some restructuring for 2013 and until the new year we are going to be reaching out to the industry for your thoughts, your needs and your wants. We want you to tell us how we can make this site better for you.

SEJ was started by Loren Baker to be a resource and to support the search community. Education was key and it will continue to be in the future. However, we need to know how you feel and what else we can do for you.

I am inviting our past writers and supporters to contact me anytime via email with your thoughts.

In the meantime, we’d like to hear from you, the reader. What can we do to make SEJ better? Please feel free to comment below :)

  1. I think having you back is all that we need actually. :)

I’ve been a long time lurker on this blog and have actually learned a lot and even learned a few things from reading blog comment’s on here. I love blogs that make you feel like you are at home hanging out with your friends and family, you can just talk about anything you want to and be able to voice your opinion and provide the real fact’s.

    Looking forward to 2013.

  2. I don’t know how many other small business owners read this… But I do and I am sure there are more because “our” websites are the live blood of our marketing and we need to have a finger on the pulse to know what to do next. I am not a spam site manager… I am a furniture designer and 90% of my sales come from my site.

I would like to see more post talking to the small business owner/SEO managers and not the SEO’s themselves. I am always trying to stay up on G algo changes, new social media platforms, new GWMT tools that dont work lol …

  3. I’m glad for you, for Loren and for us, the SEJ readers, that you’re back in the role, Melissa, even if it’s only temporary.

The recent brouhaha was unfortunate, but at the end of the day, I think it may end up being a positive. Every publication will have its hornets’ nest to deal with now and then, just like every business will have its occasional customer service fiasco. The test is really in how it’s handled.

I don’t see how it could have been handled any better, personally. A take-down, apology and an affirmative plan to prevent a recurrence is the ideal response, and that’s precisely what was done. I think SEJ will come out the other side stronger than ever.

You and SEJ can certainly count me among your supporters!

    So, HELL, YEAH!

  4. Totally agree with Doc. Happy for you Melissa and three cheers for your commitment to making SEJ a better place! You have great material to work with and have the talent and drive to take it to the next level. High five :)

  5. Welcome back Melissa , so that’s the reason that there are no recent posts in the Humor section.. i love this section of SEJ.. if you can then stay at SEJ.

  6. Welcome back i thought this is all just becuase of my tweet i recently took some advise on twitter how to contribute with SEJ and you know what you are back here, welcome back :)

  7. Christina, we are on the hunt for writers again.

Pratik, we are working hard, even through the holidays, to get things running. I will contact you and let you know what email to send new posts to as soon as I know.

  8. I had an opportunity to write for SEJ, but due to some mistakes, the article didn’t go through. Nevertheless, I’ll definitely try my luck again. Thank you for this Mellisa. All the best!

  9. Awesome! There is a plethora of content here for any search marketer, green or gray. Welcome back and keep it up. If I had any feedback it would be to differentiate between enterprise-level and small business levels of marketing. While there is obvious overlap, it can be bad for either to follow instructions for the other.
