Google Adds Form for Reporting Malware in Results

This week we saw a vicious attack on Google, Yahoo and MSN search results by malware and spyware operators hit the big news after months in the making, and the search engines, at least Google, are beginning to react publicly.

Google acted pretty swiftly on removing the bulk of the malware sites, and has added a form for reporting suspicious sites issue malware via rankings in the Google search engine results pages.

From the Google Online Security Blog:

Currently, we know of hundreds of thousands of websites that attempt to infect people’s computers with malware. Unfortunately, we also know that there are more malware sites out there. This is where we need your help in filling in the gaps. If you come across a site that is hosting malware, we now have an easy way for you to let us know about it. If you come across a site that is hosting malware, please fill out this short form. Help us keep the internet safe, and report sites that distribute malware.

Let’s see if the other search engines follow suit and if Google actually cleanses its index of malware sites.

Malware popped up and told me that they had detected many viruses, etc, and were scanning my computer, etc. When I tried to get more info, they offered free download; when the pop-up came asking me if I was sure I wanted it (no) but I was unable to stop it. Every time I canceled, it downloaded again 7 or 8 times. I had to disconnect the cable and remove the battery. I thought I had trashed all the downloads, but there is still one…..

My site was hijacked from host ipower, copied and set up as http://www.tesselliott.com where it redirects unsuspecting visitors to places that insert malware and viruses! It is still up, and Ipower did nothing but blame me. This is my good name, and already two customers have been infected because they didn’t realize my site was not part of the WWW. It’s disgusting.

  3. This URL pops up and interrupts all my attempts to click on a search listing. It refers me to some bunch of places who want to sell me somehting, but normally don’t have any relevance to what I’m searching for.

Direct access has “Forbidden Access” message on the web address. Whois lists it as some jerk in Russia named Ushenko. Does anyone know how to get rid of this bilght? when I try to use Google or yahoo to get removal help, it refuses access to the search engines. I tried to contact Google, but they are w-a-a-y too big to talk to little people anymore. I couldn’t notify them if their building were on fire. Anyone got a way to talk to them?

I have begged Google to help, and get no answer or help from anyone at all. They are helping the criminals by not acting in a timely manner, and they are not making friends by ignoring the victims. I consider it aiding and abetting.
