AOL Video Adds More Content

AOL Video is expanding the content available on its site through a deal with several content partners, the most visible of which is Viacom’s Paramount Pictures. According to the release I received, movies and TV shows from the studio will be available to download and own and priced from $9.99 to $19.99 per movie. (It will be interesting to see how the pricing shakes out over time.) According to the release, there are “more than 300 titles currently available from major movie studios.”

But the big deal in movie download arena is getting the content onto your television. That will help open this market up. AOL is moving toward making that happen, although apparently that’s not yet publicly the case. Here’s more on the announcement from MediaPost (reg req’d).

A related story from MediaPost discusses the launch of a new video travel site called Travelistic. There will be more and more such “niche” video sites, as the Internet becomes a version of cable TV but with more features.
