Google Knowledge Panels Now Include Reviews from the Web

Reviews from the web are being added to Google’s Knowledge Panels in search results; this update is available worldwide on mobile and desktop.

Knowledge Panels will curate content from critic reviews, best-of lists, and customer reviews to be surfaced within the business listing. Up to three review sites will be included in total. In practice it looks very similar to the reviews that are surfaced in search results when movies or TV shows are searched for.

If you own a site that features user-generated ratings and reviews, you may be eligible to appear in the new reviews from the web listing. First, your content has to be marked up with review Schema. Next, you have to meet Google’s criteria for inclusion.

Qualifying US-based publishers who write their own reviews may also be eligible to have their content appear in Knowledge Panels. In order to qualify, reviews written by your site need to be marked up using the new Schema guidelines.

The company also recommends adding local business review markup to assist the search engine with matching reviews to the correct local business.
