Google Chrome for iOS Now Supports Accelerated Mobile Pages

Google Chrome for iOS Now Supports Accelerated Mobile Pages

An update this week to the Google Chrome browser for iOS brings support for Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), which will allow pages built with AMP technology to load instantly when tapped on from Google’s search results.

Articles from websites which have implemented AMP technology will be designated with a lightning bolt icon and the initials “AMP”.

Google says in its update:

“Look out for a lightning bolt and ‘AMP’ next to articles in the ‘Top Stories’ section of your search results and enjoy blazing fast web page loading.”

Support for AMP pages was the only update included in the latest version of Chrome for iOS, making it a small but significant update.

It will be a year this October since Google first announced Accelerated Mobile Pages, and since then it has slowly been rolling out to Google’s apps. The Google Search app for iOS received support for AMP pages just this past May. Now users on iOS devices who prefer to use Chrome over the default Safari browser can enjoy a faster searching experience.

While on the topic of the Google Search app for iOS, it would be remiss not to mention the update that it received this week, which includes improved voice search and other useful features. See more details here.
