Yahoo has started to automatically serve the local version of their Yahoo homepage to users from the UK (and perhaps other global destinations) in what may be an effort to become more cozy with their international users.
So if you type www.yahoo.com into your UK based browser, you should be redirected to uk.yahoo.com
Yahoo has recently become more UK friendly, opening up their Site Explorer in the UK & Irish market, to the joy of many UK webmasters and SEOs, but in a Google dominated land, will this improve Yahoo traffic to UK sites?
David Eaves who informed SEJ of this writes :
Vote for this post : 1I have got a couple of clients who rank fairly well on the UK Yahoo! for some pretty decent phrases who up until now have only been getting a couple of hundred uniques a week from it. It will be interesting to see if this improves things. I know for a fact that Yahoo.com can send some good traffic, it is just the UK version that up until now has never really sent any.
or Buzz it at Yahoo :

Thanks Lee! To other readers; if you are outside of the US, what’s going on with your Yahoo?

I am American, not Brittish.
I am living in Brittain but would like my old Yahoo page back!
I get enough Brit news etc.
Just want the comfort of turning on my computer and getting the latest U.S. updates right away.
Is that too much to ask?
Please switch me back to the U.S. opening page ASAP!!!
Thanks, cheers or whatever

This is SOOO annoying! Im english but I wanna check on the american sports results on yahoo.COM - If i wanted yahoo UK and Ireland i would type it in my address bar. Is there anyway to stop it from re-directing me?

How about addressing our comments? What is the use of allowing comments if they go unanswered?

Don’t make my decisions for me, I want Yahoo.com not UK Yahoo.
If this continues my home page will be directed to Google.

Don’t bother with Google also, it’s dobng the same crappy thing by redirecting to it’s UK website. Pretty Lame, I’m not going to use any of these stupid search engine until they stop with the crappy redirecting.
