The Iranian Cyber Army has done it again. Their clever team of hackers has taken hostage of Baidu.com, China’s largest search engine. Baidu, pronounced “Bidu” is to China what Google is to the rest of the English-speaking world.
Sources say those in China trying to log onto Baidu.com are currently being redirected to the Iranian cyber Army’s splash page, while people in other countries are still able to log onto Baidu.
Some are speculating the search engine was targeted due to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Although nothing has been confirmed, we are leaning towards the idea that the Iranian cyber Army is an undercover Google coy, in which case Google insiders are having a field day. After all, Baidu has led the way with a market share of over 77%, but perhaps not for long.
The breaking news comes after the “Iranian cyber Army” (aka Google hackers) successfully hacked Twitter last week. So who’s next?

Seems its working well now! But things getting worse asif you can take control of the internet if you want!
nope – Baidu not only stopped working in China but also here in the United States.
I agree with Mercylivi . Internet security is getting worse . Many hosting companies should offer a security scanner (software) that detect hacking before it happened . The best way is to monitor your web pages and look for any suspicious changes .
Some places were not able to access to Baidu while the rest were. Actually the breakdown didn’t last for long and I missed the screen of the hijacked Baidu.
I don’t think Baidu’s share would shrink. There is a saying goes in China like this: Google doesn’t understand Chinese and Baidu doesn’t understand English. (here means the two languages) So most people use Baidu to search Chinese website.
And you say the search engine business is interfered by Chinese government, so Baidu becomes more popular in China. I don’t know the truth of it. On this point, we are ill-informed in the country. Information is strictly controlled, so we can’t jugde whether what we are told is real truth or “government truth”. You’re outside so what you are told and see may be more objective
now what next..something has to be done with internet security , so that in future, these situations can be taken control of.
i bet google engineers are working round the clock preventing the site to be the next victim.
Happy.
Searched for our company name on Baidu and it returned the result.
On the downside, Aweber, Google, Baidu – all hit.
Welcome to 2010.
Baidu Vs Google:
knowing the Chinese Government way of going about things, Baidu represent the interest of Government, its easier to control Baidu than Google. Its no secret that all China’s media are under one umbrella, writes only to pleased the authority, they are all part of Department of propaganda. My view is Google should remain in China for a good course and not be branded as coward by the Chinese, dont forget that there are millions of users in China still support Google in their strife for more accessibility to foreign media. Well I could be wrong.
