Snap.com and Moreover Team for News Search
Snap, the search engine for broadband users, has selected Moreover to provide online news content for use in the Snap news search service, currently in beta at http://news.snap.com. In a release sent out today Snap cited Moreover’s comprehensive real-time news coverage, robust metadata enrichment and ease of integration as key to the decision.
“Snap’s news service empowers broadband users to search news as fast as they can type and enables searchers the ability to refine and sort news to pinpoint the articles that matter most to them,” said Tom McGovern, Chief Executive Officer of Snap. “Snap is pleased to be working with Moreover to give consumers access to the online news they require.”
Moreover, which has been used by Yahoo, MSN, and Ask in the past (and present) to power news search services, aggregates millions of news articles harvested from thousands of editorially ranked online sources. Because Moreover delivers content as a web-standards compliant XML feed, Snap has been able to focus on building value-added news search functionality and not wasting valuable development resources on content integration.
“Consumers are demanding fast, convenient access to online news, in fact, checking news is the one of the most common daily online activities, second only to email,” said Jim Pitkow, president and chief executive officer of Moreover Technologies. “We’re proud to help Snap to deliver such a quality news service.”
