Blue Caribu released this infographic called, “How Big Is the SEO Industry on the Internet?” I like it because I feel like I can use it as proof for some people that “SEO” isn’t just some nerd-speak word and/or some odd concept no one cares about. This IG offers many stats and also comparisons against the PPC and social media industries.

Nothing here surprises me, except maybe the fact that Thursday is “SEO” day… why is that?
It´s just Google Insights. It shows a small peak on Thursdays :-)
SEO is not a process any longer, it is a mindset. More and more companies are acquiring an SEO mindset because they realize it is important for growth online.
I’d just like to point out that out of the 248,000 monthly tweets about SEO, half of those are probably mine. Because I rant. A lot. Although you could cross-reference those to the total number of tweets using the word asshat, asshattish or asshattery to be sure :-)

Well many has the doubt about the career in SEO as specially after the google instant and Search Suggestion rolled out. Infographic is an answer to all question about Career in SEO.
At the same time i have seen that day by day SEO’s are increasing with the basic and minimum knowledge specifically from Asia. Actually SEO is as vast Industry and knowing technical side is more important that to be limited to just Metas and Link Building.

The market is even bigger, just consider the keywords you missed:
- “search engine optimization”
- “search engine optimisation” (UK spelling)
Stats are bigger when you search [seo OR "search engine optimization" OR "search engine optimisation"] in Google.

You are totally right, we missed what you mention and other combinations and languages (for instance in Spanish it is “posicionamiento en buscadores”, French, German, Italian, etc). The overall goal of the reserach and the infographic was to deliver an overview of the market size.
As big as it is, when the average person asks what I do for a living, if I mention SEO, they have no clue what I mean.
