Bittorent Planning to Launch Search Engine
BitTorrent is planning to launch an advertising-supported search engine allowing users to find live torrent files. The search results will display sponsored links through Ask Jeeves.
The most interesting aspect of BitTorrent’s search engine is their ranking system. Current search engines rank results by relevancy, while BitTorrent’s search engine will rank by relevancy and availability.
BitTorrent does this by having its crawler interact with all live torrents to determine live nodes and allows BitTorrent’s search engine to consider availability of torrents in its rankings.
