AOL’s Propeller Hits 400,000 Users & Growing

NowSourcing noticed that Propeller social news sharing service, which was once Netscape, has hit the 400,000 user mark and is continuing to grow, which may develop the site into more of a player in the social community.

Digg hit 500,000 users in August 2006 and then 1 million in March 2007 and by those times, Digg had already established itself as a fierce and traffic generating social community.

Propeller may attract less techie users and more of the average netizen, which in some cases will make it more powerful than Digg if Propeller grows alongside of AOL, and properly integrates the new system into the entire global AOL network, including AOL Search (think the massive amount of traffic Yahoo could bring to your site vs. Digg, since Yahoo appeals to everyone).

Add a new ‘awesome’ Propeller design and offerings overhaul, and AOL may have a major player under its belt, especially if they can clean up the spammy blogspot listings.
