Twitter Makes It Easy To Search For Tweets By A Specific Date

If you’ve ever wanted to go back and time and see what was being tweeted about on a specific date, Twitter has made it easier than ever for you to do that. Twitter has added the ability to search by date using their advanced search feature

Maybe you’d like to go back and see what some of the reactions on Twitter were like when Google launched the Hummingbird algorithm. Or maybe you’d like to reminisce on how far you or your business has come since the days you first started tweeting. Now you can do that quickly and easily.

Just visit Twitter’s advanced search page and specify the date or date range you’d like to search by. While searching by date you also have the option to narrow down your search by any of Twitter’s existing advanced search options. Those options include things like words in tweets, hashtags used, accounts sending the tweets, accounts mentioned in the tweet, sentiment, and so on.

It’s worth noting that you could perform searches by date before now, it just wasn’t as easy. It required a deep understanding of the way Twitter search works. Previously, searches by date could be performed by manually adding the  “since:” and “until:” operators to your search. Now you can just visit the advanced search page and do it the easy way.

Unfortunately, Twitter’s advanced search isn’t available on the mobile app. If you’d like to search by date on the mobile app you can still do so the old fashioned way using the “since:” and “until:” operators.

  1. Hi Matt

Thank you for that piece of information. I didn’t know that it was that easy to search previous tweets. Previous Facebook posts can also be searched but not at a specific date which makes it a little difficult. This would be way much easier to remember the specific dates of the writing projects for our clients.

  2. Great news, this is about time! I really enjoyed their “find your first tweet” one off they did to celebrate their eight birthday. It was good fun going around looking at everyone’s first attempt.

This is very welcome indeed, especially as a research tool.

  3. I like twitter, I think twitter is better then Facebook because i feel it’s so easy to use. Thanks for update me this new feature search for tweets by a specific date. I like it.
