SEJ Has a New Look!

new SEJ header

Our team has been working tirelessly to get our new site design up and ready for launch this week! We are so excited to debut a sleeker design and a new logo which we feel is a better, updated look for SEJ. Call it, SEJ 2.0. Here are some of my favorite features of the new site.

Featured Image Tiles

I love that these image tiles on our homepage, which allow us to highlight recent amazing posts and upcoming events, as well as news from our talented newswriter Matt Southern.

Enhanced Author Profiles

SEJ wouldn’t be what we are today if it wasn’t for our talented and experienced contributors. We wanted to further showcase our contributors by allowing them to to give more information about themselves in the new enhanced author profile section.

Popular Authors Box

The popular authors box on the sidebar of our site is a great way to check out some of the best content. For the redesign, I picked the authors, but going forward, this box will be automatically updated by pageviews for authors’ posts.

New Categories

If you look at the navigation bar of SEJ, you may notice a few new categories: the most noticeable being Entrepreneur and Agency. When we held our reader survey last year, many of our readers said they were either entrepreneurs or worked within a search/social media/marketing agency, so we are going to focus on creating more content that covers both of these points of view. The Agency category will cover client management, acquisition and retention, and the Entrepreneur category will cover productivity and start-up 101, among other topics.

  1. wow, talk about selling out… awesome ads all over the place, cant tell them from the content… wont be back, thanks for playing

      1. While it is posed as slightly less then constructive feedback, I too did think the site was a little top heavy with the ads, and the Wordstream ad in particular looked anything but like an ad, which I thought was brilliant of them. As far as the design though, I really like it, and will enjoy the coming improvements ever more.

    1. That’s what i felt! Though let’s hope SEJ will survive any future top heavy update as they have lots of high quality content and authority in the niche. I must say, SEJ is one stand for all SEO Social Media and Digital Branding content :)

  2. Nice clean look on a phone & ads aren’t intrusive. I likey.
Only thing that struck me was the lack of a ‘go to top’ button – annoying on a phone when at the bottom of a page.

  3. I actually prefer the old site! A little too much white for my taste. I feel like it needs something to break up the content areas from each other.

  4. Looks a clutter at first sight, especially the top side loaded with ads interrupting the tiles. The ad box on the top right corner of the post tiles section clearly deters the experience. But yes i must appreciate the hard-work, the slick look is pretty cool and really really worth appreciating!

Best wishes and congratulations on a new roll out :)

  5. The revamped author bio is what I liked the most. It helps know more about the author. The design is good. No problem navigating around the site. That ad placed near the ‘you might also like these’ section could have been removed though. My little suggestion :)

    Best of luck!

  6. Hello Kelsey,
The new design of SEJ is really awesome. But one thing I really like is the author’s bio section. Any reader of the SEJ can follow you on social media easily. It is really cool. I also want to add this feature on my blog. :)

  7. much better. here are a few of the remarks:

    1. Links are almost invisible now in the posts due to their color and style. Totally not user friendly.
    2. Kind of heavy on ads.

The rest looks cool. Very “white-hat” style :)
