Google And Apple iTunes Together?
Google may soon be offering Apple iTunes through the Google site. Are we seeing the first of many uses of Google’s micropayment system? Combining music search and music downloads would place Google way ahead of Yahoo - its main competitor in the music search arena.
I’d imagine Google to incorporate iTunes into any search regarding musical/artist terms. Any search for related to a particular artist, lyrics, or title of a song would bring up informational links and links to various iTunes songs available for purchase. Sounds like a great way to provide Google users with relevant info and a way for Google to increase its media offerings.
From TheStreet : According to [stock] market chatter, Apple is set to announce a deal with Google calling for Google to offer Apple’s iTunes music store through its own site. The rumored deal would pair the nation’s leading online music store with its leading search engine.
There’s “speculation of an iTunes launch,” says Paul Foster, an options strategist at Theflyonthewall.com. “Google is going to offer iTunes somehow on their platform,” according to the rumor, he says.

not so sure this would place Google “way ahead of Yahoo!”. check out audio.search.yahoo.com, and i think you’ll find the tool you’re describing above already exists.
even further, it’s all-inclusive of any major or independent music vendor - beyond simply integrating with iTunes - *and* includes a Web-crawled corpus.
