Instagram Confirms Multiple Account Switching Coming This Week

instagram multiple accounts

At long last, Instagrammers will have a way to easily and seamlessly move back and forth between accounts on the native app. According to the company’s announcement, the feature will be coming this week for both iOS and Android.

Up to 4 additional accounts can be added to the Instagram app (5 in total) through the profile settings section. Once you’ve verified your credentials for accounts you wish to add, simply tap your username at the top of your profile screen to switch between them.

Similar to if you manage multiple accounts on Twitter, or multiple Pages on Facebook, your profile photo will be constantly present in order to remind you of which account you’re using at any given time. That way you won’t accidentally post a personal photo on a business account, for example.

Reports have been surfacing for weeks that this feature was being tested; this is the first time the company has officially confirmed it will be present in the next app update.

Instagram reminds that when you add multiple accounts you’ll receive push notifications for all of them. So be aware of which accounts are set to receive notifications if you want to keep those alerts to a minimum.
