Yahoo Publisher Network Issues 1,000 New Beta Testing Invites

Yahoo Publisher Network Issues 1,000 New Beta Testing Invites

Yahoo’s answer to contextual advertising, Yahoo Publisher Network, has been in beta testing since August of this year and, according to Yahoo, has about 2,000 publishers currently running the text advertisements on blogs, news sites, and other online publishing projects. Back in August, Yahoo’s goal was to reach the 2,000 publisher mark, and then expand before the end of 2006.

Yesterday I received an email saying that I had been approved for Yahoo Publisher Network and sign up to beta test their contextual advertising program. Funny thing is however, I am already testing Yahoo Publisher Network ads here on Search Engine Journal and some other sites, so I contacted Yahoo to see why I received a new invitation.

Yahoo Search Marketing spokesperson Kristen Wareham responded “As you may recall, back in August we said that we would invite 2,000 publishers to participate in our beta and then expand that number before the end of the year. The good news is, we’ve reached our goal and have just issued another 1000 beta invites to publishers.”

Yahoo Publisher Network responded that they’ve reached their initial publisher goal and have now issued another 1,000 beta invites to publishers. In addition, if you do not receive a YPN invitation this week, don’t panic, as Yahoo plans to further expand the system with a new round of invitations into the YPN network after the New Year, just sign up to become a YPN Beta Tester at publisher.yahoo.com
