Google Blog & Click-to-Call Hoax

Google Blog & Click-to-Call Hoax

A rather bizarre post was made to the Blogger powered and Blogspot hosted Official Google Blog over the course of the evening which seemed the announce the cancellation of Google Click-to-Call, the pay per call AdWords program being run by Google.

However, since the message has been deleted from the Google Blog, raising eyebrows that the blog itself may have been hacked in order to post the anti-Google eBay partnership message:

Google Click-to-Call project cancelled

After concientiously considering, Google has decided not to continue with Google Click-to-call project. The project has been in the media on last days because of the notice of Google agreement with e-Bay. We finally consider click-to-call agreement with e-Bay a monopolistic aproach that would damage small companies in the CRM area.

This message has been translated using Google language tools.

Evidentally such a message would not come from Google blasting eBay, nor would it be full of misspellings, unsigned or end with the “This message has been translated using Google language tools” line.

If this is a hack of the blog, it’s the first instance I can remember, as the only other major problem the Google Blog had was when Google accidentally deleted it back in March.
