Really how many people are participating in this contest?
IÂ´ve heard everything from 300 to 5000…
My page jumped to rank 26 earlier today :) and this is a new site, so it makes you wonder, perhaps there are not that many competitors around.

yes that is true aslo msn has just spent alot of cash so i reckon 17 months time and msn will be bigger than google

3 or 4 days into the competition and we have plenty of results. Results 41 – 50 of about 105,000 for v7ndotcom elursrebmem. (0.14 seconds) One Mine being in 41st place v7ndotcom elursrebmem @ 6k.ca. But there are still a few missing My blog being one of them and the other that I know of is one of an associate. Oh well It’s a big database and they need to process each entry. they seem to be doing a good job of it too. :)

I was in the google is losing ground camp but now that I see yahoo’s results I am thinking that Google may have been slow but they now have some good stuff at the top. I mean my blog which had two posts about the contest was number one in Yahoo, with absolutly no backlinks with good link text coming to it, heck I am not competing in the contest at all. Of course this thread is now number three in G and its not competing as far as I can tell either.

The SERPs have changed DRAMATICALLY on Google since this thread was created – now they are up to 12,000 on many DataCenters as of the morning of January 17th…

It might be a good idea to keep a timeline archive or different SERPs to gain statistical insight to Search Engine Updates and inclusion norms and trends…

FYI FWIW: Screenshots of the 10 results in Google (but often zero … but always funny Adwords on the side!), 0 results in MSN, and 274 results in Yahoo now available at 2006/01/16 updates in my signature.

V-E #3: Since John/V7N relaxed the rules, it’s quite easy for people to write a page that meets the rules for both camps. Greg Boser has chimed in to re-affirm he’s in (along with Matt and Todd) … so there is $7,000 up for grabs.

Yahoo vs.Google
What are your favorites and which do you think will win?
I prefer Google for hunting for gifts. Google might not be an
ecommerce giant but it sure searches well.
