I too had my first web page hosted on Geocities back in November 1998. I thought it was sooo cool, eventhough it really was tacky and awful. haha. But I have had soo many found memories of Geocities. I was recently taking that trip down memory lane and looking at some old Jpop pages hosted on Geocites. eventhough they havent been updated in at least 10 years, I love these sites.

Reminds me of much simpler, great times. I am so sad to see Geocities close. Good bye my friend, you made my future possible in graphic & web design. And I will cherish the good times I had with Geocities, and the awesome neighborhoods you had!

I find it hard to believe that Yahoo can't keep an archive of it available. I can't see it taking up more than a small cluster of outdated servers at each datacenter. It'll just have to serve out .htm pages. No server side processing, it's like plugging a USB disk into a router.

I'm dissappointed :(

Well if any Geocities users would like to migrate their site across to a new free platform, they're very welcome at mydragndrop.com :-p)

:( . RIP old friend!!! I still remember creating my first Geocities page and trying to decide if I liked Homestead better. I also remember back in the day when we would create rar sets and hotlink each rar on a separate Geocities account so that we could do mass file sharing and get around their upload size limitations... Man, the memories!!!
