Google rules the UK with a market share topping off at somewhere around 87%, perhaps more. Yahoo on the other hand, enjoys a 4% market share in the UK, which more or less ties it with Ask.com in terms of UK search usage, and a hair below Micorosft Search.
Google is Google however, and like the US, Google.co.uk is not the best tool for tracking everyday useful search marketing information, such as backlinks.
In what may be an attempt to win over UK webmasters and search marketers looking to track such competitive information, Yahoo has introduced its Site Explorer service to users of Yahoo UK & Ireland, which also offers API’s and other useful info.
There are a large number of really good search tools coming out of the UK and some of the top search marketers hail from across the big pond. If you’re a UK search marketer, please feel free to share your experiences or thoughts on Yahoo UK and its Site Explorer. From what I gather, it’s very UK centric and perfect for competitive intelligence on .co.uk sites.

You’re right, this is a great tool for checking UK focussed sites. It’s also cool for finding real links since it isn’t full of links from blogs and social sites like Digg as these are mainly hosted outside the UK.
The links you get are from real businesses based and hosted in the UK which is exactly what most UK clients need.

Google rules the UK at 87%, and Yahoo at 4% market share in the UK! This seems hard to believe especially with the margins so great 87% to 4%. How can you validate this data?

Has the explorer a similar function to Google’s Page Rank?
