Yahoo Music Raising Download Prices

After entering the music download market in a Rhapsody type fashion by undercutting the iTunes competition, Yahoo is now raising the price of its one year unlimited music downloading service - Yahoo Music Unlimited. Starting tomorrow, Yahoo will be jacking up the price of its service from $60 a year to $120, which lets you download all the songs you want from their directory of over 1 million songs.

In a one day only type fashion, Yahoo users and music enthusiasts will have the next 16 hours to join Yahoo Music and sign up for their subscription plan.

Additionally the monthly subscription plan will be raised from $6.99 to $11.99, which is still cheaper than Yahoo competitors Napster and RealNetworks. Apple iTunes still charges by the download, but does offer bulk music pricing. With the download subscription competition heating up, the world is awaiting such a Yahoo Music-esque download plan model from Apple.
