Yahoo Adds Wikipedia Links

Yahoo Adds Wikipedia Links

Yahoo recently announced that Yahoo Search will be including additional links for each Wikipedia entry. Now when a search comes back with a Wikipedia entry, you’ll see links to to the main sections of the Wikipedia entry also.

As you can see, the Wikipedia result now has a link to Coffee bean types which tells me that robusta coffee has more caffeine that Arabica. Speaking of caffeine, the link to the Wikipedia section on Sources of caffeine tells me that cup of tea might have less caffeine. After all, sleep deprivation. can have some pretty serious Effects on the brain. Maybe I’ll just have a glass of water.

The additional links are very similar to the links Google has been showing for some search results.

Back in April, Yahoo donated resources to the Wikimedia Foundation allowing the foundation to serve a larger global audience.

Its an answer to Google which includes Answers.com in their search results (the [definition] link you get on the top right of google search page when you search for items like London.)

Answers.com is much better as it know the classification of its items. for example he knows that London can be a city and a person and gives the options to the searcher.
