Yahoo Adds Conference Calling to Messenger
Yahoo continues to beef up its Yahoo Messenger Voice offering with the addition of VoIP conference calling from a partnership with Vapps ConfreeCall.
Red Herring reports:
“It will let you select people from your buddy list and start a conference instantly with them or schedule one for later via email,” said Vapps CEO Ben Lilienthal.
He said his company had been in talks with Yahoo for about a year on building the service. Vapps is announcing the service at the Fall VON show in Boston. While the service is free, users are charged from their Yahoo credits for the call on a pay-as-you-go basis.
The service allows conference participants to control the volume of the call and mute the line. The service can announce when new participants join the call and it includes web-based moderator features.
