@Dana.... thanks hun, we're at week 38 and it's been a helluva a journey so far. I don't necessarily agree with EVERYTHING I report, but feel that keeping a broader editorial approach is important.

@Michael - a friend of mine in the IR field once said to me, "It isn't rocket science, it's computer science" - which sums it up well for me. Because that is exactly what it is. As for the whole 'whitecoatSEO' thing, my pal Tim Nash did a presentation earlier this year in his lab coat - considering Im not into the whole 'hats' thing, I started using the term for fun...And in my circles, it is more appropriate anyway.

@Steve - Scoble, Calcainis on and on... I don't really give a sh*t anymore about that type of banter. If people don't want to use/understand SEO, GREAT. All the better for me and my clients. I've explained it many times... and it is simple; as long as search engines continue to evolve, so will SEO. It is only pointless activities and tactics that die... they are replaced with newer more relevant ones. It is EASY for those with authority/brand to say, "I dont need SEO" - that is by no means the average Joe...

Anyway, thanks for the interest gang.. and Happy Holidays to ya!! I am taking a week off from the newsletter and we'll be back in the new year!

It's not rocket science. But it's complex enough that there is a real need for people who understand it better than the bashers.

I'll leave the "whitecoatseo" metaphor to the unforgiving seas of social trends.

LOL...

talked to scoble

He was ready to listen..
http://twitter.com/Scobleizer/statuses/6748520376

Seems SEOs might think about working with "infulencers" like Scoble and Guy Kawasaki instead fo bashing them and making SEOs look like whiny (insert plural term for female dog).

Explained why his blog was wrong in 140chars..
http://twitter.com/steveplunkett/statuses/6748949216

He didn't have a problem with the explanation of why search is not dead.

maybe 2009 was the year of the whiners and complainers.... what will 2010 be?

oh yeah... the year of the #whitecoatseo.. it's rocket science.. and we are the scientists... let's act like it.
