Vote for the Search Blogs Awards of 2007

The nominations for the Search Blogs Awards of 2007 have been compiled and we’re ready to have you vote for your favorite Search Blogs, Communities and other search related categories for 2007.

This year, we have 19 voting categories and had to condense a few due to the new blogs and themes which have become common in our industry. We also have some new additions to the search communities and added search blog tools like WordPress Plugins into the mix.

We were going to host a vote for the best search marketing post of 2007, but after reading Techipedia’s post on the subject, we decided to give Tamar her due (don’t let this influence voting).

You can vote by using our form on SurveyMonkey, you’ll then be redirected back to Search Engine Journal when finished. Be sure to subscribe to our RSS feed to be alerted of the winning blogs and voting results.

OK, so please vote for your favorite Search Marketing Blogs of 2007.

I also highly recommend you keep this page open in your browser, and follow the links on this page to the blogs and sites of the nominees.

  1. Hmmm I wonder why my site didn’t make the cut for Google blogs…

    doh

  2. jim boykin says:

my blog is actually at jimboykin.com …not webuildpages.com

  3. Jim, my bad, changed on both the post and survey.

  4. .

Some of the wordings have been changed since the original posts, thus biasing the results.

Also, Link Bait Blog does not appear to have been added to the finalists – this was a good addition.

Cutts’ blog certainly deserves more than a few categories – in fact looking at the Technorati top 100 popular blogs, just a few of the blogs on that lists have ever made it.

There should be another category for non search or non advertising blogs.

One should be Tech business and Another should be Tech Gadgets.

  5. Peter Davis says:

Voted….. and thanks for organizing this Loren, lots of fun!

  6. Andy Beard says:

Good luck to those that got nominated and included

  7. Lee Odden says:

Hey Loren, thanks for including TopRank!

The blog post above does not include TopRank in the “Best Conference Coverage” category, but on SurveyMonkey where the voting happens, it does?

  8. Loren Baker says:

Thanks Lee, will address that tweak.

  9. Lee Odden says:

Cool, thanks. When does voting end?

  10. chris says:

you forgot “Most Ignored Blog Commenter” (number one is SearchEnginesWeb)

  11. Best of luck to those who made the cut.
I’ll be back next year :-)

  12. Li Evans says:

hey loren on #3 you have SMG twice, while i’d love the votes from being listed twice, it might harm more then help! LOL :)

  13. Li, fixed.

Chris, I’ll add that category next year :)

  14. Vote for all the blogs that kept you from your work in 2007. :) Congrats to all. :)

  15. Lee, I’ve decided to leave voting open until January 4th, since things are usually slow during the holidays.

  16. Loren, thanks for running the contest, and many thanks again for the nominations. Being on this list is truly an honor.

  17. Sebastian, your blog kicks a$$, keep it up man!

  18. Lee Odden says:

I agree with Loren, Sebastian’s Pamphlets rock!

  19. uGuX SEO says:

Maybe once I cream Wikipedia at becoming number one for “SEO”, I’ll be nominated. ;)

  20. Sebastian says:

Loren & Lee, thanks for the compliments! I’ll do my very best to crank out more pamphlets in 2008.

  21. Navneet says:

    Loren,

Thanks for including PageTraffic Blog this year too!

Our blog name is PageTraffic Blog. I think it accidentally got listed as Pagetrafficblog.

  22. Linda Buquet says:

Thanks Loren for including the 5 Star Affiliate Blog in the affiliate marketing category. Congrats to all the nominees in the other categories too!

  23. Rohit says:

    Loren,

Thanks for including my blog in the social media marketing category. I noticed that you just listed the URL for my blog as “rohitbhargava.typepad.com” … would you mind listing the name of the blog (Influential Marketing) instead of the URL as I think more people probably know it by this title? I’m looking forward to exploring some of the other blogs on the list!

  24. Thank you very much for the nod!

    Mike Blumenthal

  25. Pleased to be a breakout blog at just 6 months old. Thanks. :-)

  26. allen stern says:

    thanks for including me!

  27. This year’s competition is going to be TOUGH there are a lot of great blogs on the list.

@ Sebastian, gotta agree with everyone else on this one, keep up the good work!

  28. Glen Allsopp says:

Really expected to make the list this year, will make my votes anyway

  29. DazzlinDonna says:

I think you’re gonna get some skewed results. I know a lot of people who didn’t understand the concept of how to vote…choosing 1 for #1 (best), 2 for 2nd-best, etc.

  30. Video SEO says:

Bummer, guess ReelSEO is probably too knew but these are great nominations. I would just like to say that as far as most giving search blogger…. I would like to call out Charles Knight. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Charles and he has been very giving and helpful in my blogging efforts.

  31. David Wilson says:

    Loren

Thank you for including me Loren.

    David

  32. Hey Loren – 19 is like almost impossible !

  33. Gary Price says:

    Loren,
Thanks for including ResourceShelf given that it’s not a “true” SEO blog but more for our core reader’s, librarains and other researchers. In about two months we will celebrate our 7th birthday and now have a team working on both of our sites. In those seven years and much to my wife’s dismay, we have posted at least one new item everday minus about six. Tiring? Sometimes. Fun and hopefully useful, absolutely!

We are honored just by the nomination.

    cheers,
    g

  34. Loren Baker says:

Cheers Gary, and tell Patrick and the rest of the crew thanks for the holiday card!

  35. Wiep says:

Wow, thanks for the nomination Loren, I really feel honored to be on the list!

  36. Kathryn says:
  37. joe says:

No nomination for Michael Martinez? He’s really my favorite..

    My most recent 2 faves..

  38. chetan says:

Loren, can we have any glimpse of any live results?
Or we just have to wait till 4th Jan?

  39. deluxdon says:

    Loren,

Thanks for making this wonderful List.

    Juse voted.

    When does voting end?

    DON.

  40. chetan says:

Don, i think he said 4th January!

  41. Most giving? Giving what?

  42. Rohit – Leaving your URL and not the blog name was my faux pas, not Loren’s. Sorry, was in a hurry…:(

  43. Hi Loren. Your’s are the big awards the SEO/M industry looks forward to. It’s late in the game (holidays!), but I wish to write-in my nominee, Jennifer Laycock, for “Exceptional Use of Social Media by an SEO blogger.”

Jen Laycock’s going up against the pork industry by using her marketing skills to handle that situation in ways both sides could benefit from, represented the industry by putting into action a lot of what others just give lip service to.

And, in a year where education was finally getting much needed attention, I’d like to suggest that a category for “Best in SEO Education” be considered for future awards. I would nominate Kalena Jordan for this because she started the Search Engine College years ago and has never been acknowledged by the industry for her efforts. She’s one of the first to understand the value of education and finding certification criteria.

    Thank you :)

  44. Facebook Whores for SEO, SMO and SEM Awareness get my vote

Also, Dosh for breakout blog of 07. Killer advice right there.

  45. SEOish: Pat says:

Loren, thanks for putting this out and it is great to have been nominated for best breakout blog.

Forgive my post about it, I am me. Drunk and smartass, I don’t see that changing :)

  46. That last category made no sense to me until I read the explanatory text in the survey, hence my comment above.

@ Kim – thanks for the kudos *blushing*

  47. Topseo.org says:

I have just finished survery, excellent categories, but still some good site name missing in survey.

May some of wellknown sites getting more votes. Specially people awaiting result for last the question.

  48. Henri says:

Nice survey. But some categories are too long.

  49. Thanks Kim, yes, I’ll be throwing in some honorable mentions.

I’ve read that there is some confusion surrounding the rating system. Each blog is to be rated from 1 to 5, 5 being the best. And if you don’t read the blog, you can skip it and not rate it.

Yes, some of the bigger blogs get more attention, but that’s just the name of the game, which is one reason we spread out the categories and added the Breakout blog section.

By most giving blogger, the purpose is to honor the blogger which gives time, information and other parts of their self and experience the most, in your opinion.

You may feel that one blogger gives more because they write more. Another blogger may write less, but with lots of amazing material.

  50. Hi Loren,

Thanks a lot for the nomination. It is really an honor to see my name on this list.

    Happy New Year!

  51. Fridaynite says:

The “Paid Link” Question is the best of all ;-)

    Happy New Year!

  52. Zerosleep says:

Digital Point Forums all the way :D

    Happy New Year

  53. Abhilash says:

Congrats & good luck to all the nominees. Happy NYE everyone!

  54. Just a point to note some disappointment that http://www.searchengineforums.com never made the list in question # a community. :(

I mod there, to be fair, but still… Was it simply overlooked or are we just seen as dead? I’m busy there every day, so I know there are plenty of new folks floating through asking questions…

I also realize not every community could be included, but I’m trying to build a picture of how SEF is viewed these days – and no, I won’t suggest the question be edited. ;)

Thanks for the chance to rank some of my faves, though, Loren. :) All voted up!

    Duane (SportsGuy)

  55. Muchas gracias for the nomination although I was really shooting for best coverage of Paris, Brittany & Lindsay. I’ll have to try harder next year.

  56. lyust says:

I think there are too many categories, but that is not big problem.

  57. Masood says:

The question and the answeres match perfectly. Great selection of course. :)

  58. The Rock says:

DP is the best SEO forum in world

  59. Wow, what you call a big list!

  60. Voting is closing today at 9pm PST. We’ll then be tallying the votes and making announcements on Monday.

Thanks for voting, Loren and the SEJ team.

  61. How is WebProWorld not included in the award for:

    Best Search Engine Community/Forum

    ????

  62. Come on “Drinking Your Way to Popularity”,

    You can dew eit!

  63. Artem Vaulin says:
  64. Daryl Clark says:

Great post! Not only do I see a lot of my favorites sites your post has helped me learn about more SEO resources I wasn’t aware of. Great job and great post. Thanks!

  65. AskApache says:

This list has some really fantastic links, thanks for compiling it!

The robots is really nice but it overcomplicates things maybe a little. That one would get my vote though for sure for the “seo plugin” category, its great.

I’d say the Google 404 Seo Plugin was overlooked. It wasn’t purposefully made for SEO, but its still pretty cool!
