UncoverChina : New China Search Directory

This year’s Yahoo Alibaba deal, Google’s interest in Baidu, and the Mozilla Firefox & Yahoo Search distribution partnership have all built upon the interest of China’s search market. I received an email tonight from a site called UncoverChina about their attempts to build a quality English and Chinese language directory for the Chinese site market. Think of it as an UncoverTheWeb for China.

Here’s the mail : Uncoverchina who’s title tag is “Aiming to be the Biggest Search Directory in China” launched on Friday search directory listings for Hong Kong at www.uncoverchina.com, and Shanghai, at shanghai.uncoverchina.com. The Hong Kong based company will add future listings for Beijing and launch a Chinese language portal in the next months.

Looks like they are adding a local appeal to the directory with differentiation between Hong Kong and Shanghai based businesses. Smart move. I don’t really know much about the Chinese search market, but Shak at ChinaWhite.net does. I am however hoping to learn more at the first inaugural Search Engine Strategies China Conference in Nanjing on March 17th and 18th.
