Actually I agree with everything Brian said. Twitter is, indeed, self-policing. If anyone doesn't like a few slightly-commercial tweets, all they have to do is unfollow.

Most of us have a much higher threshold than that. I just unfollowed someone for tweeting the same, exact message maybe 50 times a week, lol. It all depends how much benefit your followers get from your tweets: the less entertainment you provide the less tolerance there'll be to ad-tweets.

Also, if you have qualms about it, no need to tweet about stuff you honestly couldn't endorse yourself anyway. Brian, it's a brilliant idea and you'll get a lot of flack from people who simply wish they thought of it first. :)

I think, in the modern society, few companies could afford to go without proper online stratety.
Branding and being on top of search engines are actually tied up these days.
That's why new social network could grow at dramatic speed today.

These days, Twitter is growing at dramatic speed. It is becoming increasingly popular and influential. It is even used to perform normal searches.
I've seen some alert web-based real estate company advertising on Twitter these days.

The festival will be on Saint Simons Island, GA and will feature performances by the Sea Island Singers, McIntosh County Shouters, Gospel Messengers as well as storytelling by Cornelia Bailey. Workshops by Yvonne Grovner, master sweetgrass basket weaver and Stanley Walker, master net maker will also be conducted.

So how do I use this information and blast it on all those sites, search engines, etc? It's an awesome festival with a large amount of humanities and historical content.

Hello,

I am trying put information out about a Gullah-Geechee festival for October 10, 2009. This is part of a festival for the non-profit, Glynn Art Association. Gullah-Geechee is a term used for a group of African Americans who are descendants of enslaved Africans brought to coastal Georgia from the Sierra Leone. I'd like to get as much exposure about this without having to spend any $ that we simply don't have. I am new to online blogs, tweets and whatever...ergo, a novice in this internet marketing field. Where is my best resource for learning about it, how to target market using these engines, etc.

None taken, Terry. Ask some 8 year olds how many of them know that the athlete on the Wheaties box got paid. Ask some 17 year olds if they think Kobe really likes Nikes or just did it for the money.

But actually our approach to disclosure has been evolving even since this interview happened. I've been publicly discussing the best way to disclose with Brian Solis, Chris Brogan, Ted Murphy, and Stowe Boyd, and now we're settling it internally at TweetROI.

Look for some changes that improve disclosure in the next couple weeks.

Thanks!

No disrespect Brian... but eveyone knows what's an ad or advertorial in the real world. Your example is apples to oranges and the same lame example types bloggers use. Users deserve to know when influence was affected by $ that's the law... don't take the same lame stance as bloggers... they are wrong & they know it... problem is it becomes a broken business model once they admit it's wrong to mislead users in any way. Don't make the same mistake!
