Hey Loren, I have found that there are a lot of people out there that have been burnt or ripped off by SEO companies or individuals claiming to provide "SEO" services. I feel like this gives a bad name to those of us who are truly providing "SEO" to our clients and have our clients best interest at heart.
I don't think it is a bad idea to have a forum like this because it is a problem in the industry. However, if this site is just to generate leads I have to wonder if they are really trying to be a benefit to these victims.
The site doesn't offer much info. I would be interested in knowing if the leads are given to SEO companies that are truly going to provide a great online marketing strategy or are they just farmed out to companies just trying to make a buck. If this is the case then it is only going to add fuel to the fire and further depress the efforts of the "above board" SEO professional.
I also agree with Miles that some sort of standard needs to be established to protect these unknowing clients from being burnt in the future.
You can't go wrong if you are trying to help others grow and be successful. People who are just trying to make a quick buck off of the ignorance of others in this industry give the ones who truly want to help a bad name.

Loren - did these guys ever actually display the reports people submitted?

I just went there and the only thing you can do is submit a report. No way to see any of them.

Which to me, just adds to the slime. Not ethical and not helping anyone but themselves.

I definitely agree - we should actually come up with an SEO standards committee that protects against those types of lead generation tools. What about a real board of ethics and standardized tests? SEOMoz gives a great test. Anyway, this ripoffreport is a terrible idea and we need to find out who the company is that owns it - i'll check DNS records

The story and the strategy seems pretty dirty. It is too bad that some companies have to rely on that kind of scammy way to get some clients. They had a clever idea but not ethical at all, this show that are not a very good "seo firm" or they would not be doing that!!
