Search Mob : Digging for Search Engine News
So, if Search Mob is to be the Digg of search engine news, who’s going to be the MySpace or YouTube of such? Beats me, but in the meantime there are three Search Engine Digg clones on the market, the latest launched by John Battelle.
The others are Search Engine Press and Search N Sniff (thanks for the reminder Danny). Although the latter two are slow to gain momentum, Search Mob may bring in the usage to actually become a useful resource and alternative to other less interactive Search Engine News aggregation services, such as Search Brains.
Like Danny, I have also thought about incorporating a Digg style search news service within Search Engine Journal, or as a different entity. Conversation over beer & corndogs at Google Dance 2006, however, morphed the idea into a new direction with some friends in the search industry, and that new direction should be live by late autumn.
In the meantime, give Search Mob a try.
