4 Simple Ways to Promote Your Site on Facebook

To me Facebook is the place that unites my relatives, friends and colleagues – people that might build a great community around my website. Here are some tools that can help you share you website with your Facebook buddies:

1. Networked Blogs application allows to create a community around your blog.

What you can do:

  • Verify your authorship by asking your friends to confirm it (send maximum 20 confirmation requests in a bulk):
  • Invite friends: you can invite all your friends at once (of course, they will have to sign up for the app to both confirm your authorship and join your blog network).
  • Add your blog details (blog name, URL, tagline and description, feed URL, up to 3 tags).

2. RSS connect application offers to add a blog or any RSS feed to your wall or boxes tab or create a fully customizable tab dedicated to your feeds.

You will be able to :

  1. Add a box to your profile wall;
  2. Add a box to your boxes tab;
  3. Create a customizable tab for your feed.

3. Simplaris Blogcast (there are many similar apps but this one is my favorite) integrates an existing blog into Facebook “to increase your visibility and share your content with all your friends”. Make sure to configure it to make the profile links go to your site directly:

4. “Share a link” option can be accessed from your profile page:

  • Specify the link;
  • Hit “preview”;
  • (Important) Choose the correct image;
  • Click “post”:

    Ooh, so facebook is not only for sharing pictures? :-0
    Nice article.

  3. Thanks, Ann, your ideas are very useful.

    I think it’s also reasonable to post some unique content to Facebook and cross-link some parts with your blog posts (for example, as a reference to detailed articles).

    And it’s a good practice to share some traffic with other related communities by promoting each other.

    Those are some great tips. I use Facebook to promote my real estate business/websites but in a way so it’s not in your face.

  5. Sujan Patel says:

    So would it be wise to do these things along with having a facebook fan page & group? Or is this more of an alternative to those things?

  6. Sujan, I would suggest doing a Facebook Fan Page first and then doing the group if you know that you’re gonna keep it active and use it. The Fan Page is more viral because it posts an image on the profiles of those who want to be fans.

    thanks Ann. i agree on all fronts and use all the apps you recommended in your post.

    Another very good app is “RSS CONNECT” it allows you to pull multiple feeds into one page. most importantly is does not go down like the other rss apps do.

    Great article! I really liked the Networked Blogs application! I’ve really been trying to leverage Facebook and other social sites to bring in traffic to my blog. Since it is still in it’s infancy and not pulling much traffic from SE’s yet, social networks have been a great way to gain exposure.

    Great article!

    Nice article. The good thing about Networked Blogs is they have out out of the wall version. I mean they can be accessed without Facebook ID and Password. Please have a look: http://apps.facebook.com/blognetworks/blog/marketing_gossip_search_internet_marketing_other_non/ (You have to be signed out of FB to check it)

    This is a good thing to have an inbound link as well, provides regular (non-nofollow) link to your site and to your followers. Just making the Network Page relevant will pass you link juice.

  11. Nice tips.

    Thanks for the tips. I will definitely try these tips.

  24. It’s amazing how effective the friend invite works. Last night, an individual i used to work with contacted via IM on Facebook, and after talking for 5 minutes, he sent me a name and number of someone who needed social networking software. He called because I invited him to become a fan of my business. The person he recommended works for a social marketing firm.
