Funny, a colleague of mine over at Zeta was just talking about this on Tuesday.

We ran some test, and based on preliminary results, it appears that the main influencing factor on rankings (you guessed it) is the anchor text composition of inbound links.

Since in most instances, folks don't hyperlink with hyphens included, most results are the same with or without the hyphen.

Can't say that our test is 100% scientifically verifiable, but my advice would be to try and secure some inbound links with hyphens if you want to rank for hypenated terms.

I just wrote about an interesting case of a multiple hyphenated domain name that surges to first place.

Unbiased report.

I've been working on an ecommerce /e-commerce /eCommerce site for a while...
at least the budget's bigger than the b&b/ b & b/ b and b I worked on a while ago - the client still doesn't quite believe they got their money's worth by being #1 for bed and breakfast!

I run into this sort of dilemma have noticed that my domain I bought has t-shirts in the domain, but I noticed recently that google will not bold the t-shirts in the domain but will bold if someone has tshirts in there domain which doesnt make any sense. Yahoo and MSN both bold t-shirts in the domain... can you do a sample test with this same result of why google wont bold the t-shirts in the domain?
