It makes sense for hip local businesses to get profile on MySpace, but for the rest, 99% of local businesses I would suggest to try out http://www.ShowMeLocal.com.
Businesses can post all their information, coupons, specials and jobs; create network and enjoy cross promotions. And they can blog too if they know what it is :)

Yup, I see a lot of celebrities and even people posing as celebrities. There has even been reports of many scams of some companies claiming to give prizes away for information. Myspace may have to jump in and start regulating if it gets bad.

Merchant Circle sucks. I joined months ago and I started getting over 6000 spam mails on a brand new fresh yahoo account. They also fleeced me out of a lot of money. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Go with myspace.
