Mozilla Firefox 2.0 Beta Expected Today

Mozilla Firefox 2.0 Beta Expected Today

The Mozilla Foundation is scheduled to release the first beta of their upcoming Mozilla Firefox 2.0 web browser today. This release is critical for Mozilla, as it will highlight the direction inwhich Firefox is taking for its future. And its future will be enhance competition against a refurbished and renewed Internet Explorer 7 web browser from Microsoft. Opera, the third player in the market (especially for the PC platform) is also threatening Firefox growth a bit as they were the first player to launch their next generation web browser in the market with the launch of Opera 9.

The release candidate versions of the Firefox 2 beta 1 release are already available and the approved beta should be out sometime today.

Mozilla has said that most changes introduced in this update are under the hood. It comes with a built in anti-phishing tool, improved search box capabilities and an inline spell checker. RSS support has been massively improved and users would have more flexibility with the tabs in the application window.
