Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer knows how to blow the hot air and use evasive methods to feed the media misinformation when on the acquisition trail; like calling Facebook a fad only one month before investing $240 million in a 1.6% stake in the company to secure an advertising deal.
On Monday, Ballmer used his Jedi mind tricks to cast off reporter questions about the possibility of Microsoft acquiring Yahoo:
Asked if Microsoft was interested in buying Yahoo Inc, Ballmer said: “My answer is a considered ‘no comment’.”
“We want to succeed in the online advertising space. What happens with Yahoo, we’ll all have to wait and see.”
Wait and see? Sounds to me like Microsoft does still have an interest in Yahoo’s search technology, advertising arm, eBay partnerships and online entertainment & social portal. But will they follow the Facebook scenario for a stake in the company, or go for the whole acquisition?

Honestly, if Microsoft wants to stay in the game, they don’t have a choice but to fork over billions of dollars and just buy Yahoo!
Microsoft is falling so far behind in ad revenue and likely moving to an open source Windows platform, they will lose even more in licensing revenue.
Yahoo! is Microsoft’s last chance to even stay alive as a company. If they don’t acquire Yahoo!, Microsoft will be dead within the next 20 years.

If Microsoft is able to acquire yahoo then it would be perhaps the biggest acquisition all of times. Maybe then we can hope that YPN will open its doors for international users!!

Microsoft will be better to buying yahoo and survive and compete in the search business. Than dropping millions/billions buying smaller company next few year and expect one of their lottery investment will turnout to be the next google. perhaps msft is waiting to see the more clear road map for yahoo before making acquisition of course they will have to pay at top premium at that tiem.
