Microsoft’s Windows Live on Firefox
Windows Live, after a much anticipated launch by Bill Gates & company, has initially forgotten that not all Internet users prefer the Internet Explorer browser. On their launch date, Live.com, was not supported by the Firefox browser, ignoring almost 13% of web users.
The Windows Live launch did not go over to well with Firefox users, and if it had, Microsoft may have been able to win back some brownie points in the browser aware community. That being said, two weeks after launching, Windows Live is finally Firefox friendly.
Additionally, it seems that Windows Live is now also offering its Windows Live Mail Beta, for users who have Hotmail accounts. A little bird emailed me last week to tell me that The “What’s New” section of Live.com is working, “and it takes me to a page with links to various new Live services, most of which appear to be up and running, including the new Windows Live Mail Beta (Hotmail account required).”

Not quite yet, or at least not for everybody. I could only submit my email to request an eventual invitation, not signup for the service.
Yeah. You are right. Interesting that this is the exact same system that Yahoo have to join their Mail Beta. Submit your address. Wait.
“On their launch date, Live.com, was not supported by the Firefox browser, ignoring almost 13% of web users.”
If I had written this article, I would have phrased in such a way so that it didn’t sound like Firefox was not supporting Live.com, but rather that Live.com was not up to W3C standards of coding and being able to show up on all browsers.
I got a Window Live mail account
Hello,If anyone has a Live mail invitation, plz send me one and if anyhow one can register using hotmail account.Plz mail me how to do it.Thanks.
Ok first of all i have a Windows Live account AND i use firefox…that being said Windows live does support NOW. I dont know if at one time it didnt but right know it works its just not completely work but not all of that is microsofts fault it is easier and faster to code a dynamic web page for ie(i do web sites for nonprofit so dont start). but as far as microsoft even caring that the 13% have firefox not ie? come on now, we are a drop in the big big bucket. say what you like
please invite me to windows beta mail.

Given that Hotmail has never supported FireFox, why is this a supprise?
I was dissapointed with Live Mail in FireFox. Sure, it works but fire up MSIE and compare.
Drag and drop is half the fun; not supported in FireFox. The old Hotmail one could ‘check all’ in FireFox, not anymore.
The advantages of Live Mail are apparent in MSIE and non existent in FireFox.
I read in the Wall Street Journal how the EU mistrust MS. No surprise, eh?
Hi,
I login Windows Live Beta from my firefox browser 1.5.0.4
I raised problems with Microsoft Support, but none of the points work. All settings regarding SSL, TLS are correct.
I am still not able to get my email frame displayed from the FireFox browser
[...] The site is located at a valuable domain name, Live.com. (Back dans la journée, I had a band by that name autograph a T-shirt of mine.) It regurgitates nearly 50 validation errors. Due almost exclusively to unencoded ampersands, the errors are like misspelling “the†in a Ph.D. thesis. (The shopping component initially refused to work in Firefox. So did the whole thing, for that matter. And some people claim this thing is standards-compliant.) [...]
Can send me an invite to live mail?
Thanks joeyl95@hotmail.com
Windows Live Email has a splitter window that Firefox does not render.
Hi all. Whenever I visit the link for Windows Live Mail Beta via ideas.live.com, it always logs me into my hotmail. Am I missing something? If I need an invite, can someone send me one? Thanks! -T
Everyone should understand (google) what Jacob is saying above.
Microsoft’s pension for marketplace dominance has long been an outta control impersonation of true free marketplace innovation. Ultimately, we’re only looking at laziness-driven merchandizing here, not any truly necessary net value new utility going back to patrons in exchange for the $$ and time we offer them. Think of the value of the collective lost time worldwide with this foolishness (marketplace exploitation). Best thing to do, when one can, is simply not use links/patronize/visit sponsors w/ ads on MS owned site(s)(Hotmail, the new Live bs)(ads on Gaming related, MSNBC, etc.).
MS is so lame… They haven’t innovated anything. Their new IE 7.0 is a rip off of Mozilla and the tabbed browsing..
I am forwarding all my mail to an Yahoo account, which works perfectly with Firefox 2.0… I AM SO LIVIDLY upset @ the fact of no rendering of splitter in Hotmail…
Please window live mail beta
I still can’t get Hotmail Live in Firefox 3.0.1. It works in I’net Explorer 7 but defaults to Classic in Ffox.
Disappointed but not surprised at MS trying to force people back onto their IE service by not making windows live work with firefox. I started using firefox because my credit card kept details kept getting ‘robbed’ using internet explorer. No such problems since I switched to firefox. Furthermore I think I will just forward my mail onto another account that works with FF. Windows live is pants, Microsoft is sh!T. They sold me a crap operating system in vista, which was not tested and debugged properly before getting sold. Imagine if the pharmaceautical companies sold medicine before testing it. Oh wait the swine flu vaccine, that hasn’t been tested. Well apart from the swine flu vaccine? Bottom line Microsoft is a terrible product that tries to coerce customers instead of letting them choose. They expect the public to debug their sh!t software for them. I am not falling into the trap of getting windows 7, I am going to put a linux partition on my machine, make it dual boot and live happily ever after. Give microsoft the Bird. Their systems are unsafe. Their products are shit. Get free office suite on linux, safe internet and great media software free on linux. Its time we all made the change. Sorry Bill but you’ve been fobbing off poorly deisgned and tested software for years. It’s high time it stopped.
