Michael Jackson Birthday Celebrated by Google

Google has put out a special logo today to commemorate the late Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday.

Michael Jackson

It’s a bit intriguing that Google has chosen to commemorate Michael on a day also marked across the nation as a tribute to the late Senator Ted Kennedy, I’m sure deciding one over the other may have been a difficult chore for Googlers, as the United States has lost a true democratic leader and the last of his generation.

Michael Jackson however, is an International superstar (and Google is an International phenom) who like Kennedy, is still shining bright, so there are no complaints here.

Looking at other engines, neither Yahoo, Bing, Dogpile or Ask.com are paying tribute to Michael or Kennedy today, so good for you Google and thanks for reminding the world that today is Michael’s b-day.

Sen. Ted Kennedy was a good senator and he will be remembered as part of the one of the most well-known political families in the United States but Michael Jackson, a universal icon who comes only once in a lifetime had a profound influence on millions of people around the globe, commemorating him on his global birthday does a great favor for us. I commend the Google webmasters for doing a FINE job. THANK YOU

I just came back from celebrating MJ’s b-day at Prospect Park, Brooklyn. What a day! About 15,000 strong crowd of all ages and nationalities sang and danced to his music! And after 5 hours nobody wanted to leave! You can say what you want about the man, but he simply cannot be compared to anyone on this planet right now, maybe not for a very long time. He has touched so many people with his art. Art trumps politics any time—can you imagine a large group of people congregating to celebrate Ted Kennedy’s life? Fuhgeddaboutit. Thanks google for your MJ tribute. So noted and appreciated.

  5. Kel says:

Danske – I think you need to think before you speak!!! Kennedy was a great political leader and Jackson not only was a musical genius but was loved around the world and will be remembered for generations!!!

Bowing to so called Political Correctness is very different from having respect for the dead!!

    RIP Jackson and Kennedy!!!

    • Ty says:

You said it best! Having respect for the dead, paying tribute to the works and not the personal lives of the legends can help us all not be so judgmental. Besides, I’m sure Danske has a sinless life in the eyes of God…YEAH RIGHT!!!

  8. PG says:

Google should stay out of this one. Jackson settled with his first molestation victim. That says a lot.

Also, I don’t care if Mr. Jackson was regressed or an addict or had a tough childhood or anything else. He was an adult who adversely affected the lives of some children to satisfy his eccentric antisocial desires. That’s all that matters.

He also payed the mob a record sum to promote Thriller but that’s another story…

Oh, I suggest everyone listen to Prince instead anyway. Better music. Cooler dude. He’s my King.

  9. sardnas says:

    thank you google!!!

I am praying that all of us shall take our admiration and respect for all of the really great work that both Senator Ted Kennedy performed in Washington for 47+ years as well as that of Michael Jackson for almost the same ( except that it was almost all of his short life ) and …
Let it motivate us to go out and try to do a fraction of what they did not for money but to leave this world having truly made a difference that
    we, the living
can admire and thank them BOTH that we had the opportunity to know them.

Ted Kennedy=Murderer….Michael Jackson=Child Molester….people commenting here as if they know MJ personally=Losers and finally Google needs their collective heads examined.

    • 2amazon says:

Did you know the man personally? Are you sounding off on information fed to you by the media? Did you hear him write and sing about molestation? Did you hear it in his music or were you a guest in his home? If you are going to go off of what you see or hear then why not hear and see from the source.? His words, his music, and his ideas are out there and available to you. Or hey, maybe you did hear/see all of that in his works. “Heal the world”, may have been a code for molesters. So did you hear it for yourself?

    • Theresa says:

sooo Noel, you knew Michael Ted any better then the rest of us????
      be kind or be quiet….

    • KatieC says:

Haters are haters. They hate everybody.

    • You are the one who needs your head examined to comment like that. Looks like you’re missing a couple brain screws in your head. MJ was a loved entertainer of all time, if you don’t like him keep your stupid comments to yourself.

  36. 2amazon says:

Jesus was perfect and came to save us yet he was crucified. The servant is not better than the master. Any Christian will also be persecuted. We are not perfect. God commands us (Christians) to be humble and Michael Jackson was, (he was never violent even when announcing his innocence via video, no anger, just soft spoken and deliberate). Can anyone remember a harsh word that he spoke? With all of his fame and fortune he was humble where others with money and fame are egotistical, demanding, and whorish and the like, but they are affectionately called divas and playboys. Their behavior is accepted and not seen as strange. No one made Michael Jackson visit our troops and kids in hospitals. No one forced him to give, give, give and he did not have to, yet he did humbly. We never heard about it cause he did not speak about it. Humble. I respect that Michael Jackson mastered a characteristic demanded by God but seen as strange to man on earth. It takes great courage to go against the world. The road to Heaven is uncomfortable and filled with trials and tribulations. It is much easier and better accepted to raise hell instead. R.I.P. Michael Jackson and enjoy your rest because your struggles here on Earth has ran its course and you fought a good fight. Nothing on earth done or said can affect you now. God is the only judge, but for any that disagree cast the first stone. It’s great my search engine decided to honor his birthday.

  37. Bart says:

Yes, THANK YOU Google for remembering Michael Jackson’s birthday. Both Teddy Kennedy and Michael Jackson were icons in different realms of life – Teddy more specifically in the US but Michael Jackson worldwide. Both of them were magnificent and remarkable human beings. But Jackson being the more internationally known figure (and Google being a worldwide service), it probably made more sense to commemorate him. That is no slight to Teddy Kennedy, it’s just logistics.

    THANKS again Google.

I also agree with what 2amazon says: Michael Jackson was a humble and generous man – how many orphanages did he visit every time he was on tour? He never talked about all humanitarian efforts he’d made. One of them, he insisted that it be turned around in 24 hours (new beds, new sheets, more staff) or he would REFUSE to go on stage. He paid for medical care and life-saving treatments for many children – stood by them when no one else would (Ryan White). He used his fame and fortune for GOOD. He GAVE and gave and gave of his talent, time, money – to the poor, sick, and disadvantaged – especially children – so much so that he made he Guinness book. HOW MANY can say that? And he was CRUCIFIED over his appearance, about his health problems, accused of rediculous stuff he’d NEVER do because the known extortionists who accused him of such wanted his money, etc.

I’ve thought many times myself that – yep. If Jesus Christ came back here TODAY, he’d be crucified the same way – probably by the same/similar people.

We claim to be a moral society – but when someone comes along that actually LIVES true morals – we destroy them. And that’s what was done to M.J. R.I.P. Michael. He was an angel on Earth and now is an angel in Heaven. He did all he could do here so God brought him home.

  49. Lisa Odom says:

Dear Google, I want to thank you for putting that logo up there. I actually started to cry because i was so happy from seeing it. I think many people forget just what Michael did. The writer mentioned mother Theresa, but Michael was the most charitable celebrity and still is the most charitable celebrity even after death. He went on tours and did commercials just to raise money solely for the unfortunate children of the world. Things like that are forgotten about Michael. The beautiful things this man did like unite the world together as one and even if for an instance had the whole world realize we are all the same. From black, white, green, purple, blue, orange, diseased, gay, straight, and anything else, he made us believe in a different cause. No other person has done such. Not Mother Theresa, the Pope, Not even OBAMA. When Michael Jackson died the world cried. The world mourned. And the World lost. We didnt just lose the greatest entertainer that will ever grace this earth, But we lost the greatest human being to that showed us what true unconditional love really is. To be beat down and torn apart by the world so badly and to still say I forgive you and kept giving his heart when someone was in need. That there was true unconditional love for the world and every organism on it! So GOOGLE, I applaud and thank you for your OO icon yesterday. And please dont regret it, in fact I beg of you to do it again, next year and forever on out!
    Sincerely,
    A Michael Understander!

That’s wonderful GOOGLE!! I loveeeee it. listen people , Ted Kennedy was a senator and he’s very good senator, but Ted Kennedy was not born ON AUGUST 29m so chill out. Don’t be Jealous!! this is part of fun about Michael Jackson, and we adored him and we admired his magnificent talents and his creativity in music industry, Michael Jackson to me , he’s more than “GOLD” , Michael Jackson is GOOD FOR BUSINESS, HE”S A PERFECTIONIST BUSINESSMAN, HE”S an INFINITE IDEAS in music industry and it’s very sad that THEY KILLED HIM, and his music legacy will live on INFINITELY to generations to generations, to generations. So all of you people around the world, WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT MICHAEL JACKSON”S LEGACY!! THE KING OF POP WILL LIVE HIS MUSIC FOREVER!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  53. Jessica says:

Come on haters, Michael Jackson is Michael Jackson, Senator Ted Kennedy is Ted Kennedy, they bought have different category, Ted Kennedy is a politician while Michael Jackson is a singer, Ted Kennedy represent the UNITED STATES OF AMERICAN politics, while Michael Jackson represents around the world, as singer, song writers, artistic, innovative, dancers etc. So don’t be JEALOUS, besides Ted Kennedy was not born on August 29 , he was born February 22, . if Kennedy was a dancer, singer, songwriter, choreographer, producer and at the same time a politician then there’s a conflict of interest in politics , unless the constitutions in UNITED STATE OF AMERICA change the laws in politics, so widen up your knowledge,, your perspective , and stop being so Jealous and hater person. Why don’t you JOIN the fun of MICHAEL JACKSON, come on give us a nice and constructive comments to both individual TED Kennedy and Michael Jackson, I bet Ted Kennedy had admired Michael Jackson, Ted Kennedy is a PISCES man and Michael Jackson was a VIRGO so they get along to each other, I know for sure that there are too many politicians who admired Michael Jackson’s magnificent talent but they just don’t want to say it in public because they might get scrutinized for wrong reasons, so stop hating each other and BEAT IT!!

To : 2 amazon, Bard and Lisa Odam. Thank you for your heartfelt and sincere remarks.

Happy Birthday Michael!!! You are dearly missed…..Your fans around the world will not forget you…..

Gone but will never be forgetten!! You will always be alive…… in our hearts – your songs, your music, your dance, the charitable goodness you do and still doing by setting aside 20% of your estate to benefit the charities. Hundreds and thousands of children around the world benefited from what you do, and the hundreds of millions you have donated all this years. That to me is the most beautiful act that I see on top of your amazing and out of this world performance. You only have to listen to MJ’s song to hear what a beautiful person he is and how much he wants to make the world a better place!

Tell me, who in this world’s birthday will be celebrated around the world by people of different race, colour, religious believe, age, etc even though he/she is no longer with us. Believe me, Michael Jackson breaks a lot of barrier. In China where I have now been living for the past 6 years – I found out he has lots of fans despite not having to perform in China at all. The TV channels here were having programs and showing tributes to that man!! What else does one needs to proof how significant this man is.

Michael , you now have 2 new fans!!! Both my young kids especially my 6 years old daughter insist on watching your MV every night before sleeping, LOL. She told me her favourite is Billie Jean, Man in the Mirror, Earth Song, Smooth Criminal, You are not Alone and Heal the World…..

    A fan living in China
