Major Search Blog Redesigns : Google Blogoscoped & Dave Naylor

July 5th, 2007 by Loren Baker, Editor | 1 Comment

Today has brought two excellent redesigns of search engine oriented blogs, although from different parts of the searchosphere, from Philipp Lensen’s Google Blogoscoped and David Naylor’s DaveN.

First, Philipp’s redesign is sleek, simple and to the point … taking advantage of the use of white space while also driving the reader’s eye to the advertisement space (currently being filled by Google AdSense).

Dave N’s redesign is tight and I like his use of two sidebars on the right hand side, with main content to the left.

One side note Dave, lose that default Digg It button. Since most of your posts don’t make it to Digg, having a Digg this button with a big fat ZERO looks like fookin’ crap. Instead, install the Digg This plugin. This way, the big Digg box will only be included at the top of your blog post if that specific post has been submitted to Digg and has received referrals from the Digg.com domain.
