I receive link exchange request regularly from the States, for the most part they are not relevant to my site and so now I turn them down. My understanding is that non relevant exchange linking will have a negative SEO effect. I still have exchange links from before that I must consider severing.

Ofcourse link exchange is still worth and i think its an powerful tool in SEO for the strong backlink, but always do link exchange with relevant and high PR sites.

Let’s just say, I believe the link building community has become so lost and out of shape, that it isn’t even worth bothering with! I for one do not actively EVER search for partners to link exchange with, I just need to keep creating good enough content to get linked too naturally!

As far as ecommerce sites go, it does work, especially if the site you are exchanging links with is a vendor with a brand name. Then, miracles happen.

Not worth the time/effort… seeking out websites just for a link to exchange.

What works… exchanging links with sites you visit regularly and enjoy. I offer an exchange to anyone i learn to really know and can associate with.

Love the emailers I have two old as the hills sites that all they do is collect the juice that these people send… PR4 and PR5 respectively. The email well… link in the subject line =byte bucket around here. Then to I stopped exchanging links in about 99. Personal relationship links, yeup… but if I have the least worry you’ll switch the content… gone in thirty or less. ;-)

For me, I will only do link exchange when they are related or relevant to my niche.

I do not ask for the link exchange.

I buy links in yahoo! directory, otheriwse ANY link exhange requests i get in email i forward to webmaster@google.com so they can know who the link traders are…
