Iran Bans Use of Blogrolling.com

Iran Bans Use of Blogrolling.com

The government of Iran has banned the use of Blogrolling.com and has ordered all Iranian ISPs to black and filter the blog rolling service. Apparently, Blogrolling.com is quite the popular blog linking tool in Iran, which is the largest blogging country in the Middle East (and also the youngest).

From the Committee to Protect Bloggers : Many bloggers perceive this as an ‘attack’ to the Persian blogosphere. “I don’t know what would happen next, but this is just the beginning,” the writer of ‘Persian Buddy’ wrote in his blog. “Soon they are going to filter blogger.com itself and we can do nothing about it,” he wrote.

Is this the first act of total blog censorship for Iran? That is left to be seen, it’s interesting though that Blogrolling.com was targeted for the ban as being a channel of traffic building between Persian blogs. Hat tip to Blog Herald for this story.
