Google To Launch Foundation, Expand Google Grants

Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who have organized their Web search company around the principle that “you can make money without doing evil,” plan to establish a charitable foundation.

“We want to make the world a better place and so we’re embarking on the Google Foundation and we’re in the process of setting it up,” Page said. Page, 31, said the proposed Google Foundation would mark a natural extension of the grant program the Internet company already provides. Those grants enable non-profit organizations to benefit from free advertising on Google, the world’s largest Internet search engine.

Apparently, Google has taken the grant program beyond the defualt AdSense ads and will be incorporating them into paid search advertising and other Google channels.

A Google Grant for VolunteerMatch

Google recently selected VolunteerMatch as a “Google Grant” recipient, providing VolunteerMatch with free advertising throughout Google’s search entities.

VolunteerMatch text advertisements appear on the search results listing page whenever a Google search is generated for keywords like “volunteer” and “community service.” These ads link directly to VolunteerMatch’s extensive network of volunteer opportunities.

With Google managing upwards of 200+ million searches per day, more volunteers than ever are now encouraged to visit VolunteerMatch and sign up to volunteer.
