How Has Google AdSense Changed Your Life?

December 28th, 2007 by Loren Baker, Editor | 12 Comments

One of my long time blogging friends, Amit Agarwal, produced this video on how Google AdSense helped him become the first independent blogger in India, after the advertising system gave him the chance to move back home and become his own boss.

The video was selected by Google to become featured on the Google AdSense blog.

Google AdSense also gave me the initial financial freedom to become a full time blogger, and then the opportunity to pick and choose my career path in search marketing. Search Engine Journal currently does not run Google AdSense (except in some select posts), but it’s always good to know that if I have to, I can fall back on AdSense to fill remnant space.

I found Amit’s video inspirational, if not Digital Inspirational, and worth sharing.

So, yes, Google AdSense has led to mass spamming of the Internet via made for AdSense sites and splogs, but the opportunity it has given many of us .. and it’s fueling of the problogging movement, has to offset its negatives.

So, how has Google AdSense changed your life?

I recently read an interesting blog post asking and discussing what categories of people are still clicking on Adsense ads. I think this is interesting to find out. The social class, age and other criteria defining the ads clickers because is sure that some people click ads and some don’t. That is the question .
    great video anyway :D

At one time, I ran a newsletter that updated QQQQ option trades online. My Adsense revenue from those twice a week updates went as high as $800.00 a month after 4 months. Not a bad part time income from about 30 minutes of work a week. The best part, the “potential” Adsense revenue helped sell the site for a significant amount of money. So, I don’t hate on Google too often =)

Inspiring video… also, totally agree with you Loren. But fact is that to sustain an income from blogging alone, a certain degree of blog spamming does seem necessary.

Interesting video. I however think that people especially newbies should proceed with caution. Giving up your day job to go and set up a blog will probably not work for everyone.

The big clue here is the gentleman in the video lives in India.

The exchange rate and the cost of living in India have to be factored in.

If you live in England or the US, then you need to ensure a high income from adsense before considering quitting your day job

Google’s PR machine is monstrous. I don’t meet often articles that cherish Nike for providing a living to thousands in China and Cambodia.

Well I must be doing something wrong because after years of using Google Adsense, I’ve earned a total of $4.38. What am I doing wrong?

    Ya I agree,
Amit might be the highest individual earner of Adsense from India.
Though I saw he is moving more towards blogads these days.
