Google is taking issue with site owners who repeatedly violate Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.
In a post published early this morning to the Webmaster Central blog, Google outlines how site owners are going through the process of:
- Getting hit with manual penalties
- Fixing what led to the penalties
- Submitting a reconsideration request
- Getting the penalty revoked
- Going on to spam again
Even the most subtle changes are noticed by Google, as the Search Quality Team explains:
“For example, a webmaster who received a Manual Action notification based on an unnatural link to another site may nofollow the link, submit a reconsideration request, then, after successfully being reconsidered, delete the nofollow for the link.”
Repeat violations could make further reconsideration requests harder to earn. If Google detects that repeat violations were a result of deliberate attempts to spam, then even further actions may be taken on the site.
The simple way to avoid manual penalties from Google is to not violate its Webmaster Guidelines. Getting hit with a penalty, and then achieving a successful reconsideration request, does not mean Google will no longer be checking for what led to the penalty in the first place.
It sounds as though Google is fed up with repeat violators, and is about to take more serious action against them.
